Educational Background
If you asked me to give you the exact date I decided education was the path meant for me, I would say August 8, 2008. Okay, maybe that isn't exactly when, but I know it was in middle school. During the summer, I had started to babysit my younger brother and a family friend. Babysitting then became a Girl Scout Counselor, and now it has turned into teaching.
I knew I wanted to teach in middle school, but what subject was the question! I enjoyed the band and considered being a music teacher until I found theatre in high school. The rest, as they say, was history.
After spending time at Catawba Valley Community College, I transferred to Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina, to obtain my degree in Theatre Arts with a K-12 Licensure. My (now) husband and I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, just two weeks after completing my studies in 2016. Being new to the area, I started subbing for Wake County Public Schools and fell in love with Lake Myra Elementary School. I decided to stay, and since there was no position for theatre, I followed the steps to add my K-6 Elementary Education License.
